PEACE: You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out

College can be an exciting season, but let’s be honest ~ it can also be a lot.
You’re making decisions about your future, figuring out who you are, navigating friendships and
relationships, trying to keep up with school, thinking about money, and wondering what comes next.
Sometimes it can feel like everyone else has their life together while you’re still trying to figure yours
out.
And in the middle of all of that, God offers you peace.
Not because everything will always go the way you want it to. Not because you’ll always have the
answers. And not because life suddenly becomes stress-free.
God’s peace is different.
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” (John 14:27)
Notice that Jesus didn’t say, “I’ll give you peace when everything works out.” He said, “My peace I
give you.”
That means peace isn’t dependent on what is happening around you. It comes from knowing Who is
with you.
Peace is not the absence of chaos or storms. It is quite the opposite. Peace is an inner calmness – a
stillness that comes from knowing that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is with us, even in the
middle of the storm.
There may be moments when you don’t know what major to choose, what job to take, whether a
relationship is right for you, how you’re going to pay the next bill, or what your future is going to look
like. You may even question whether you’re really on the right path.
But you don’t have to have your entire life figured out today. Or this moment.
God does.
You can trust Him with the questions you don’t have answers to yet. You can trust Him with the doors
that haven’t opened. You can trust Him with the doors that have closed. You can trust Him with the
parts of your life that feel uncertain.
Philippians 4:6–7 reminds us not to be consumed by anxiety, but to bring everything to God in
prayer. And then it gives us this beautiful promise: the peace of God will guard your heart and
your mind.
So, when your mind is racing, pray.
When you don’t know what to do, pray.
When you feel behind, pray.
When you’re comparing your life to everyone else's, pray.
When you’re excited about the future but scared of what it might bring, pray.
You don’t have to carry everything by yourself.
And please remember this: your current situation does not determine your future.

God has a purpose for your life. You are not here by accident, and you don't have to rush to become
everything you think you’re supposed to be. Give yourself permission to grow. Give yourself
permission to learn. Give yourself permission to make mistakes and start again.
Most importantly, give God room to lead you.
Peace doesn’t mean you won’t have questions. It means you can have questions and still trust
God.
It doesn’t mean you won’t face difficult days. It means you don’t have to face them alone.
So, take a breath.
Slow down.
Give God what you’ve been carrying.
You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can rest in the One who does.
You don’t have to have it all figured out but trust the One who does.
Of all the words you could have chosen, you chose peace. Maybe you chose it because peace is
something you need right now. Maybe there is something happening in your life that has left you
feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or uncertain about what comes next.
Whatever the reason, it is our prayer that the peace of God will go before you, surround you, and
remain with you. May His peace quiet your heart when life feels uncertain, calm your mind when the
answers don’t come easily, and remind you that you are never walking alone.
You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can trust the One who does. And because He is
with you, you can move forward with peace.

A Prayer for Peace (Say this aloud)
Father,
Thank You for reminding us that we don't have to carry the weight of figuring everything out on our
own. You know the plans You have for each of us, even when we can't see what comes next.
For every student reading this, I pray that You would meet them right where they are. Give them
peace when they feel overwhelmed, direction when they feel uncertain, and courage when they're
afraid of what the future holds.
Quiet the thoughts that keep them up at night. Help them stop comparing their journey to someone
else’s. Remind them that their timing does not have to look like anyone else’s because You have a
purpose specifically for their life.
When they don’t know what decision to make, give them wisdom. When they feel like they’re falling
behind, remind them that You are still working. When they feel alone, remind them that You are near.
Teach them to trust You—not just when everything makes sense, but especially when it doesn’t.
Let Your peace guard their hearts and their minds. Give them the confidence to know that they are
loved, chosen, and created with purpose.

And when life gets loud, help them recognize Your voice above the noise.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
